Family seeks assistance from institutions to release Nezir Mehmetaj from prison in Serbia

“Directed: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Interconnection Office, Human Rights Organisation, Ombudsman, Oda of Lawyers, international factors, Serbian factors and relevant mechanisms that have the opportunity to prevent this bias and unjust detention against the citizen of the Republic of Kosovo.
I also address foreign embassies, local and foreign media, and those of Serbia, as well as all factors that may influence this sensitive situation”, the family's demand says.
In the case of Neziright, they say, human rights violations are involved because they say he is experiencing mental violence.
They add that these acts and charges are unfair and absurd, stressing that in 15 months the detention has been continued.
The family says he is being tried only because he is Albanian.
“We as a family all this time are working in defense of Nezir, but in the impossible to get to Serbia to look closely at the course of this case, because in fear of the infidelity that could happen to us the same fate as our brother, Nezir Mehmetaj's. I know we have moral support from the people and that made us stronger, but besides moral support, we expect serious legal support from the relevant 48x1> institutions, it says.
Serbia's prosecution has filed the indictment on the claim that Mehmetaj committed war crimes during 1999 in the village of Rudica, Kline.
Mehmetaj has been arrested on 3 January this year at the Merdar border crossing and has since been in custody.
Mehmetaj's defence lawyers have said that it is the third time the Court returns the subject for completion to the prosecution, to give even a chance for collection of evidence that does not exist or exist.
