ATK calls on businesses to apply for forgiveness of penalties, Kadriaj sees superficial measures

Only 799 Kosovo businesses have applied from January 27th to now for pardoning debt penalties in the Kosovo Tax Administration, so the institution's spokeswoman, Valentina Bytyqi-Sefa, has indicated through an interview for Online Economy.
According to Bytyqi-Sefa the payment paid by taxpayers totals 3.8m euros, which greatly impacts ATK financial mirrors.

After the decision made by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo measures all taxpayers who have untainted obligations in Kosovo's Tax Administration to be awarded penalties on the only condition taxpayers who want to be forgiven by the state then they have the condition to first carry out the payment of basic tax and then the interest later is pardoned according to the previous measure of<1>.

So far the number of taxpayers who have applied to forgive punishments is somewhere around 799. This number has paid around 10.5m euros in tax bases and 1.2m euros in interest, while the penalty forgiven according to the previous measure is worth 3.8m euros. The deadline until taxpayers can apply is until June 30th, I am considering that there are even few days left when taxpayers can apply, and after this date any taxpayer who is indebted must complete debt”, she added.
Bytyqi-Sefa has also announced that the only condition of pardoning penalties is to pay the basic tax and interest.
According to her, the measure does not select a period of time when taxpayers have become indebted to ATK, nor does it select the kind of businesses that have the right to apply.

The process as such as is envisioned with the decision made by the Government is not difficult because the only condition taxpayers have to meet is to pay the tax base and interest. This decision does not select tax or debt periods created, but it is a decision that includes all periods, no matter what year the taxpayers are owed. According to Kadrinaj, businesses in the first three months of the year are unable to pay such payments, so the application deadline should be delayed.
“Time is very short because the first and second months for business are very inappropriate for making payments, I would appreciate it would be good that even the third month eventually up to the fourth, because businesses from now on will see how much they recover because we have not yet left the pandemic”, he added.
