Good news for Italian football. On June 11th, Euro 2020 begins, and the first challenge has been proved to be played at Rome's “Olympico” Stadium. UEFA has demanded that 25% of its capacity be filled with fans in the stadiums where the matches will take place.
As a result of the difficult situation created by the Corleone pandemic, Italian authorities had not granted permission for public presence at stadiums, risking the opening challenge of Euro 2020 being transferred to another country.
Such a thing will not happen, Italy-Turkey will take place in “Olympico”, which will be filled with 25% of its capacity. The renowned stadium holds 70,634 fans, so over 17 thousand fans are expected to attend the first European duel.
The neighbouring government has sent a letter to FIGC President (The Italian Football Foundation), Gabriele Grava, where the opening of the capital stadium is confirmed with 25% capacity for Italy-Turkey duel.
The head of Italian football has welcomed that. “Government confirmation of the presence of the public in Rome for Euro 2020 represents excellent news that we will immediately broadcast to UEFA.
“I would like to thank Prime Minister Draghi and his government, Health Minister Spranza, but above all Vice Secretary Vazzali, who expressed its full support for the realisation of this great event.“, Grava said.
