The moment the ambassador's wife slaps the saleswoman she accused of stealing clothes

Authorities say Xiang Xueqiu, wife of Belgian Ambassador Peter Lescouhier, has gone to a store on April 9th where he has tried some clothes.

She then leaves the store, while a staff worker follows her back to the street after questioning that Xiang stole some products.

Images captured by security cameras and widely distributed on social networks show that Xiang returns to the store and addresses staff with anger, even hitting one of them in the face.

The South Korean Foreign Ministry said it has asked the Belgian Embassy to co-operate on the issue and that it would take appropriate measures based on further police investigation.

Meanwhile, the Belgian Embassy in Seoul confirmed that Xiang was hospitalised but made no other comment.

Some South Koreans expressed disappointment at what they said were unjust privileges for diplomats and their families. /A2 CNN
