Blinken wishes Kurti: You will have US support, agreement with Serbia essential

State Secretary Antony Blinken has sent a letter of congratulations to the prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, through which he praised him and the people of Kosovo for the successful and democratic elections held on February 14th.

He has written that the United States of America has welcomed the formation of the new government and that they expect to work closely to ensure, as he has said, that sovereign, independent, multiethnic and democratic Kosovo takes its place as its equal partner in the Euro-Atlantic family.

Secretary Blinken has welcomed the pledges of Prime Minister Kurti to fight corruption, empowering rule of law and recovering from the pandemic COVID-19, as well as his efforts to realise Kosovo's people's aspirations on paper, he has said securing a comprehensive agreement on normalisation with Serbia focused on mutual recognition is essential for Kosovo to achieve its full potential and move forward on the road towards EU membership.
