Thus Italy will become the first European Union country to produce this vaccine, which is still under consideration over use by the European Bars Agency (EMA), Euronews writes.
“Vaxina will be produced from July 2021 at the plants of the Italian-Switrine pharmaceutical company Adianne in Lombardi in Caponago near Monza,” told AFP news agency Stefano Maggi, press adviser at the Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce.
“Ten million doses will be produced between July 1st and January 1st 2022,” said Maggii, stressing that this is the first <x2nd> agreement on the European level for producing Sputnik vaccine on EU territory”.
Sputnik V has not yet received approval from the EU regulator, who began the review last week.
Russian authorities say they are willing to provide vaccines for 50 million Europeans starting in June.
Several EU countries, including Hungary and Slovakia, have begun managing the Russian vaccine without awaiting MMA approval.
Sputnik is now approved in 46 countries, despite his initial encounter with scepticism in the West.
