France is transferring patients to other areas and even neighbouring Belgium because of the tense COVID-19 situation to hospitals in several regions.
“Situata in Paris's largest area, in the Hauts-de-French region and south is disturbing”, government spokesman Gabriel Attal said today, following a government meeting led by President Emmanuel Macron.
A certain number of patients will be transferred in the coming days, especially from the largest area in Paris.
Such transfers are already taking place in other regions.
The Hauts-de-French Regional Health Authority in the north of the country announced the transfer of intensive care patients to Belgian hospitals.
Previously, patients from Dunkirk to Hauts-de-French near the Belgian border moved to the nearby region of Normandy.
Attal also announced an extension of the weekend stalemate in Nice and the coastal region, to power in Dunkirk.
The measures are supposed to last for two weeks.
