The lira has lost more than 40 per cent of its value against the US dollar this year, making it the worst performer of all emerging market coins, Klan Kosova reports.
Under a presidential decree late Wednesday, Erdogan accepted Lutfi Elvan's resignation and appointed his deputy, Nureddin Nebat, as the new finance minister.
Nebat, 57, has a doctorate degree in political science and public administration from Turkey's Kocaeli University. His predecessor had been in the post since November 2020, when he was appointed after the resignation of Erdogan's groom, Berat Albayrak.
Elvan's one-year term was marked by numerous crises.
