European official: Political surprises in Kosovo have not helped dialogue with Serbia

European Ministry for Foreign Affairs Secretary-General Stefano Sanino has said Tuesday that political transparency in Kosovo has not helped the dialogue process with Serbia, but European officials believe dialogue can resume soon. The Western Balkans will continue to be up on our agenda. I have no doubt about it. I'll tell you very clearly: This is unfinished business. We have special responsibilities for the region. We can't afford not to continue the work that we started”.
According to him, the support Miroslav Lajcak is offering as a special envoy in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia is very important and that the work of the former US envoy for these talks, Richard Green, was not helpful.
If I had been honest with you, Yerenelli's work was not helpful. More than that, it wasn't in the interest of the region, it was in the interest of the United States and the idea they had. That's why we have to lead. But to be in charge of the Western Balkans, we have to be active in the enlargement process because that's perspective”, Sanino has declared.
Sanino has estimated that although this process is complex, there is no reason for the EU not to be strongly committed and committed to the Western Balkans, reports Radio Free Europe,
Political dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, with the European Union's mediation, has started in 2011.
The last meeting between the state leaders of these countries was held in September last year.
Since then, no summit has been held, until in the EU they have said the reason behind the lack of meetings is the coronary pandemic.
The other reason for the failure to hold meetings now is the government's unconstitutional declaration led by Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti in Kosovo.
Until the election of the new Kosovo government, official Brussels has warned there will be no meetings within the dialogue.
Early parliamentary elections in Kosovo will be held on February 14th.
