Greek analysts have warned that Athens' position is quite problematic, at the height of continuing tensions with Ankara in the Mediterranean.
He argues Greece could lose a possible war with Turkey, adding that Europe is “raised by Athens”.
They also warned that French interests in the region may not fully match those of Athens.
Giorgos Papachristos, of Greece's best-selling daily “Ta Nea” argued that the path towards the European Union whenever the country has a problem is not a solution.
; They're tired of us. We have always convinced ourselves that we are right and Turkey is wrong, but we must be realistic.
Papachristos also noted that Greece has two options. First, a short-term battle with Turkey, in which Turkey would take over the small island of Kasteloriz? (Megist Meis), located just a few miles off its coast.
The second option according to Papachristos is dialogue, from which Greece also risks serious political loss.
In this scenario, Turkey would make demands and Greece would have to make concessions.
