The issue of electing the country's president has returned to the topic of discussion.
This is due to the publication of the indictment proposal by the Prosecutor's Office specialised towards the country's current president, Hashim Thaci.
However, the first of the LDK, Isa Mustafa, is saying that the candidate for president has not been discussed with either the coalition parties or the opposition.
“In the LDK has not been talked about the candidate for Kosovo president. We have not talked with either the ruling coalition parties or the opposition”, Mustafa said.
Asked who should become the country's president, if against the current president, Hashim Thaci, the indictment by the Special Court is confirmed, Mustafa has said that if the constitutional situation for the president's election is imposed, the issue will be treated complexly.
Kosovo currently has the president with constitutional mandate by April of next year. As the constitutional situation for the president's election is imposed, this issue will be treated in a complex manner, because it is complex”, Mustafa declared for Express.
As far as readiness to go to the elections, Mustafa is saying the LDK is committed to providing a good and conscious government for the country.
“The LDK will work to ensure that the country offers a good and responsible government. To cultivate correct relations and trust with coalition partners and with opposition”, the LDK chief has said.
Mustafa has indicated that his party will not take any action that he thinks is not good for the country, only to avoid elections.
“The LDK will work fully on the country's interests, will be open and co-operative under these very specific circumstances, but also will not make any action, which it thinks is not good for the country, just to avoid elections”, Mustafa has indicated.
Meanwhile, AAKA leader Ramush Haradinaj has suggested that the party has authorised it to hold negotiations on expanding the current coalition. The AAK leader has also suggested that he has the ambition to be president and that this is the top responsibility and particular honour”
But Haradinaj has taken care of saying in his post that he would like to succeed Thaci only after he completes his mandate, not as a consequence of leaving the Special Court.
“Trust me to be a candidate for president, if this is discussed under the constitution, I consider it a top responsibility and particular honour” Haradinaj wrote.
This Haradinaj position was made at the time The PDK is being discussed that it will join the Government with ambitions as well as for the presidential post.
