Speaking from Varhely's office about the photograph with the inscription “Kosovo of Metohija”

Serbia's president, Alexander Vuciq, had yesterday taken care to warmly wait for EU Enlargement Commissioner Olive Várhely during a meeting at Serbia's mission office in Brussels. The head of the Serbian state had served traditional Serbian customs for the Hungarian diplomat. For a moment of such a meeting, Vuchic had distributed [...]

For a moment of such a meeting, Vuciq had distributed to his official account in the Instagram even a photograph that sparked many reactions in Kosovo.

Behind the back of Várhely and Vuciqi at Serbia's EU mission office, there was a book with Metohija's “Kosovo inscription” which concerned Serbian cultural heritage in Kosovo.

Regarding this event, the Express newspaper has been addressed to the office of Commissioner Várhely to get a comment and ask whether he will ask the Vuciqi to pay off such a photograph.

Várhely's adviser, Maja Kocijancic, has said that all she can say is that the picture was not realised at the Commissioner for Enlargement's office and that it was Vuciq who organised the reception.

“What I can say for you is that the meeting with the Commissioner was organised by President Vuciq in Serbia's EU mission (and not in the Office of Commissioner”, Kocijancic exclusively told Gazeta Express.

She has already mentioned that Várhely one day earlier met with the prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Avdullah Hoti, and that she maintains regular contacts with Kosovo and Serbia based on the EU policy and priorities they have for the Western Balkans.

The commissioner met with Prime Minister Hoti the previous day. It maintains regular contacts with Kosovo and Serbia, in line with European Union policy and in priorities we have for the Western Balkans”, has ended Maja Kocijancic.
