The European Commission has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kosovo to pave the way for the first 50m-euro distribution as financial assistance for Kosovo.
The second 50m-euro tranche could be disbursed later this year or early in 2021, Klan Kosova reports.
“AMF funds will be made available in the form of long-term credits with very convenient conditions. The funds will contribute to strengthening macroeconomic stability, so government financial resources can be allocated to alleviate the serious socioeconomic consequences caused by the pandemic”.
“Natalia Apostolova, chief of the EU Office in Kosovo/The Special Representative of the EU, welcomed the signing of the agreement and urged the Kosovo Assembly to quickly proceed with the ratification of this funding agreement, so that the financial support distribution process must not be delayed”.
The “With Memorandum of Understanding agreed on nine policy conditions which support the programme. These include measures related to strengthening public finances and financial stability, addressing youth unemployment and improving good governance and fighting corruption”.
