Adding new corruption cases, Valbon Krasniqi does not rule out the possibility of total closure

Valbon Krasniqi, the manager of the hospital service's duty, confirmed that the situation of the David-19 pandemic is very disturbing. He underlined for Euronews Albania that increasing figures and demanding patients for health aid have further increased pressure on health facilities.

Dr. Krasniqi said that 600 hospital-paced patients in all of Kosovo today are receiving medical treatment.

He confirmed that if this situation continues at this rate, then the health system will have difficulty providing beds.

The “really, as you said, these are very disturbing figures for us, especially in clinical terms, as these ongoing growing numbers are putting the hospital service under pressure for expanding capacity in beds. I can say that we still have the situation under control in terms of offering beds and offering health care. At this point, we have over 600 patients laid down at the University Clinic in Pristina and in 7 regional hospitals. Right now these numbers are affordable. Two weeks ago we had half of them, while within these two weeks cases were added”, he said.

Krasniqi said that if the cases come to increase, then the possibility of a total closure is not ruled out.

However, Dr. Krasniqi confirmed that this measure could apply only when the expert committee and epidemiologists see it as reasonable.

These numbers are disturbing and we already have more than two weeks more than 200 cases a day. Seeing the increasing numbers, the Kosovo government was forced to toughen the measures under expert recommendation. We are on hold, and these measures must yield their results. At present I cannot claim such a thing, but it will depend on epidemiologists' recommendations, but increasing numbers are leaving no room for moving forward in the positive sense”, he said.

During the last 24 hours in Kosovo, 237 cases have been recorded, while seven patients have lost their lives. The growing trend of the past two weeks is being followed with concern by the Kosovo government, which has invited citizens to respect the measures, maintain distance and use masks in closed environments.
