Alfonso Davies, a talent with great potential. The guy with the Canadian passport, originally from Liberia, was purchased from Bayern Munchen at the Vancouver team for about 20 million euros. He has broken several records, becoming the first football player born in 2000 to make a debut in MSL.
In June 2017 he became the youngest player to debut with the Canadian National Football Man. The double that marked against French Guiania in 2017 at the CONCAAF gold Cup made Davis the youngest scorer of the Canadian National, the youngest to be shown in a CONCACAF competition and the youngest player to be born in 2000, who has scored in an international summit tournament.
Nothing's been easy for the Baptist boy. His suffering has been many. The Second Civil War in Liberia forced his parents to abandon their homeland. They traveled 1,500 miles [1,500 km] to reach Ghana, where they settled in a refugee camp. Alfonso was born right there.
Davies's mother, Victoria, has confessed their family's suffering. “We are in Canada today, and we have everything we need, but when we were in Liberia, we had to look for food among the corpses. The country was in civil war and we were afraid of dying. It was dangerous, terrible, and we had no choice but to flee.
We've traveled 1500 miles and settled in Ghana, where Alphonso was born. Then we sought asylum in Canada, and in 2006 we finally left Africa”, the mother of Bayern Munchen's side. “Today I feel proud of my son”, Victoria adds.
There was no food or clothing in the refugee camp. We already live in Canada, where we hoped to be saved, and with the help of the Canadian state, we have succeeded. I told Althonso he could leave to continue his sports career and he told me he would never change”.
Sad memories are already just a story to tell. Davies is a tough guy and always smiling. His “flight” with Bayern Munchen has started and can soon become one of the best in the world. He's got the talent and he's just starting to explode.
