PDK MP Ganimete Musliu, at the media conference, has raised the concern of thousands of Kosovo citizens who have remained abroad during the time of pandemic, who now want to return home. She said the dismissed government is fleeing concrete responsibilities by misleading diaspora citizens.

MEP Musliu has stressed that after seven weeks of pandemic, without returning there have remained close to 75% of citizens who have sought to be repatriated. She said most of them are running out of patience, are out of work, or part has gone for health problems and need to return, while students have been cut off from schooling, deputy MEP Musliu suggested.

Deputy Ganimetie Musliu's full statement:

Honored media representatives,
Honored citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,
First in my name and the Democratic Party of Kosovo, I wish you from the heart to be well in health and I hope that the people who are affected by the choreography have quick recovery,
Lost families were expressed the heartfelt condolences of their loved ones.
It's been two months since our country as the whole world is facing a dangerous pandemic.
We are organising this press conference to raise our voices regarding the thousands of our citizens still trapped abroad.
It's about our citizens who, for different reasons, have traveled abroad, expressed the need to return to their homeland, but they have not yet been enabled.
The government cabinet's proposals are dismissed that they are allegedly managing the issue of repatriation miraculously is pure fraud.
The tragic case of young Agon Musliu, which occurred as a consequence of the negligence and irresponsability of state institutions, is the strongest testimony to the failure of this process.
Also, many facts have been made public over the last few days that prove that the process of repatriation and quarantine has been done abusively, selectively, politicisedly.
The Democratic Party of Kosovo since the beginning of the pandemic has played a constructive role by proposing expanding quarantine capacities to enable the immediate return of all Kosovo citizens stranded abroad.
Neighboring countries have built large host capacity through private hotels for quarantine of returnees, which are many times more abundant and quality than our own.
Also, if this outgoing government had provided more tests for Ovid 19 returnees, there would be no need for any to quarantine but only to be tested.
The right to return to their homeland is a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution of Kosovo and therefore the obligation of this outgoing government.
We are all aware that this banned government does not ask about the Constitution that it has already violated it several times.
But here, it's about something very sensitive, such as the Albanian relationship to homeland.
I myself have been a refugee of war in Germany and I know what it means to be away from the family home in the impossible to come back.
I remember well what anguish and grief I waited for days of freedom and the first plane that enabled me to return home.
Therefore, our citizens who have been left abroad, like our entire diaspora, should not only be seen as a source of votes and incomes, as the Vetevendosje Movement is doing, but should also be seen as the responsibility of this state.
Reasons given by the banned government Kurti to justify such abandonment are absurd falsehoods.
It's been enough time to make adequate preparations for their repatriation.
At the moment we speak, after seven weeks of pandemic, they are left out of the country without turning close to 75% of our citizens who have sought to be repatriated.
Most of them are running out of patience. Many of them are out of work, part is gone for health problems and need to be returned, students are cut off from school.
We have information that many of our fellow citizens left abroad are facing financial problems, running out of insurance visas.
Despite the devoted work our diplomatic and consular service is doing, only their quick return is the solution for them.
Therefore, the Democratic Party of Kosovo calls on this irresponsible government to spend less time on social networks and television studios and to bring all Kosovo citizens home as soon as possible.
