The chairman of the House of Representatives' Foreign Relations Committee, Eliot Engel, has said that the current American administration appears to be not committed to Kosovo by past US administrations.
The elections have just been held in Kosovo, and the United States now appears to be moving away from the two-party commitment we've had in past administrations, starting with Clinton, Bush and others”, he has indicated.
. Mr. Engel has once again recalled the gratitude and gratitude the Albanians have expressed for the American people. He has stressed that the US, in some way, has turned their backs on the people of Kosovo.
No matter how much you can travel, you can never find a place that greets Americans as joyfully as Kosovars do. I've never seen a country that loves and appreciates Americans and is so grateful for what we did in 1999 to prevent the genocide that was happening in front of Europe. So it breaks my heart that somehow we turned our back on those”, it's said Engel.
Meanwhile, former US State Secretary Madeleine Albright has said that now the United States is not helping as if it used to resolve differences between Kosovo and Serbia. “What happened, unfortunately, is that there are now questions about the borders and about that Kosovo has been part of Serbia. However, I think that in many ways, I have to say this with regret, the United States is not helping to resolve this case with (Serbian President Aleksandar) Vucinqiqiqi and what Serbs have tried to undo, which has resulted in ethnic cleansing, a genocide which the international community has condemned”, has declared Albright Radio Free Europe.
Mrs. Albright, apparently, has referred to discussions on border change and territorial exchange between Kosovo and Serbia. Mr. Engel and Mrs. Albright have made these comments during a debate organised by the House of Representatives Foreign Relations Committee, led by Elliot Engel.
In this debate, which has developed through videoconference. It has been discussed authoritarianism, dezinformation and governance during the coronary pandemic crisis.
Derek Mitchell, president of the Natural Democratic Institute (NDI) and Daniel Twining, president of the International Republican Institute, participated in the debate.
