Chief State Prosecutor Alexander Lumezi has accepted a donation of 29 laptops from the US Embassy in Pristina, which will be in service of the State Prosecutor's Institute in dealing with domestic violence cases.
The signing ceremony has been held between Chief Prosecutor Lumezi and representatives of the American Embassy in Pristina, led by the director of the Bureau for International Narcotics and Enforcement of Law (INL), Shawn Waddoups, who has declared that this donation aims to increase the work capacity of prosecutors and victims' advocates.
The purpose of this donation is to help prosecutors and aid victims to address cases of domestic violence even overtime, thus urgently responding to the needs of victims who have suffered from domestic violence, especially during the pandemic with COVID-19.
These laptops will be distributed to regional prosecutors to be used by prosecutors in respective duties, as well as to aid victims. It is also envisioned for laptops to be distributed to prosecutors of the Special Prosecutor, Appeals Prosecutor, and the Office of the State Prosecutor.
Chief Prosecutor Lumezi has thanked the US Embassy in Pristina for its continued co-operation and assistance given to the prosecutorial system, as well as its readiness to continue in the future.
