The Kosovo Democratic Institute has reacted after political employment of VV members on public boards.

KDI through a media communiqué has said it is following with much concern the government's actions in office, which in time of pandemic are downloading existing boards to replace them with people of their subjects, writes news.net.

“KDI is pursuing more concern the actions of the incumbent government, which in time of COVIID 19 is continuing with the dismissal of the existing boards of companies to replace them with people of their subject. The deployment of figures that were formerly candidates for the political subject Vetevendosje in recent elections is contrary to the laws of these public enterprises and contrary to the main promise that the boards will be taken from politics and will be professional, independent and integrity-instance”, the communiques say.

According to KDI, the government in office urgently has to stop such a practice, while the recruiting process must precede the announcement of public contests in ways that people with credibility, integrity and professionalism be recruited on these boards.

In the EU enlargement strategy for the Western Balkan states, it was quoted as saying that these states, including Kosovo, show clear elements of the state's capture at all levels of governance and administration. Even KDI, as part of the global Transparency International network, has repeatedly reported on elements of the capture of state in important sectors, while in particular has criticised the practice of catching public enterprise boards and placing non-competent and party people.

KDI is pursuing more concern the actions of the incumbent government, which in time of COVIID 19 is continuing with the dismissal of the existing boards of companies to replace them with people of their subject. The deployment of figures that were formerly candidates for political subject Vetevendosje in recent elections is contrary to the laws of these public enterprises and contrary to the main promise that the boards will be drawn from politics and will be professional, independent and integrity-related.

The government in office urgently has to stop such a practice, while the recruiting process must precede the announcement of public contests in ways that can recruit people with credibility, integrity and professionalism on these boards. The incumbent government must continue memorandums of co-operation with the British Embassy in Kosovo, for recruiting boards and other governing positions in Kosovo, so that we can have through a transparent and accounting process with the help of the Embassy and under the supervision of civil society to enable the election of public enterprise boards to be professional and not political, with integrity and not caught.
