The US's role in the Kosovo dialogue process, Serbia, remains irreplaceable. Bekim Colak, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci's chief of staff, has stressed that the EU has been the leader of this process in the last 10 years.
But this does not mean that it has been a good and successful leader. Despite limited achievements, we still do not have final agreements on normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia”, he added.
According to Colak, who has participated in all meetings over the years as part of the Kosovo delegation, has said the progress so far is largely due to the support and engagement of the United States of America.
“Therefore, successes and failures are shared among participants involved in the process. However, this long and laboring process must be completed. Kosovo's interest is to reach a good deal and get recognition from Serbia”, he has said.
Colak has stressed that to achieve that goal, Kosovo is willing to work with everyone, but mostly with those who really want to reach an agreement and have the ability and credibility to move forward.
The US “Role and leadership remain irreplaceable in this process. But, as long as it is able to fulfil the promise of visa liberalisation and accelerate Kosovo's EU membership” remains, Colak has said.
