The Albanian Embassy in the US has provided information to the Albanian community there regarding Coronourous's pandemic.
The embassy writes that so far they have no mass distribution information on cases that are positively tested with COVID-19 in the respective state, but it adds that the picture is quite different in New York and New Jersey, where there are a lot of citizens in heavy condition.
The embassy adds that at least nine members of the Albanian community have lost their lives, three from Albania, four from northern Macedonia and two from Montenegro.
The ambassador, Floreta Flaber, also writes that over thirty members of our community have been counted in various stages of the disease. She adds that some of these have been communicated directly on the phone, which have informed them that the symptoms of the disease are serious but fortunately fleeting in domestic conditions.
Full Posting:
Within the situation created by # COVID-19, Ambassador Floreta Faber has developed a series of telephone communications with directors of organisations and associations, religious representatives in some countries, as well as prominent members of the Albanian-American community. In the process of getting information as broad as the situation and the health of community members, representatives have confirmed that so far, there is no mass compliance with cases tested positively with COVID-19 in the respective state.
Unfortunately, the picture is quite different in New York and New Jersey, where there are many heavily loaded citizens. At least nine members of the Albanian community have lost their lives, three from Albania, four from Northern Macedonia and two from Montenegro. The ambassador takes the opportunity to express his condolences to the families and relatives of the victims. Over thirty members of our community have been counted in various stages of the disease. With some of them, it has been live on the phone, which have informed them that symptoms of the disease are severe but fortunately fleeting under house conditions. Based on information, individuals are treated in the hospital only when they are in a very critical state and have respiratory problems and their respiratory support is required.
It is a pleasure to see the Albanian-American community from all over the United States organized groups of volunteers to help members of the community who because of their age have the impossible to come out to meet their daily needs. In some cases, communities have organized funds raising that may be used in the coming weeks. Especially for greeting is the work of religious communities that are also helping to reduce the stress and anxiety of individuals or families in these difficult times.
The ambassador thanked the representatives for the information and solidarity to help other members of the community and requested keeping communications with the Embassy in this difficult situation.
We learned from the discussions that much of the community has lost their jobs. The embassy urges community members to pay attention to instructions given by the relevant states to benefit from financial aid provided by the American state. The embassy itself will try to sum up this information and offer it in Albanian and provide addresses to which you should head in every country.
In the coming days we will continue with daily contact with other members of the community in other countries where there is a high concentration of the Albanian community. The ambassador has already spoken with representatives in several cities of New York, Michigan, Texas, Washington State, California, Florida, and Philadelphia. If representatives of associations who want to communicate with Ambassador or embassy staff, question or share information about the community situation in their city, please write to us on the address of the [email protected] and we will contact you immediately.
Show as much concern for yourself, your family, and the community around you!
