As a result of the Devi-19 pandemic, many businesses in the country have suspended their work activity, where in just a week to benefit from “Emergency Package”, in the Kosovo Tax Administration, 8 thousand and 256 applications have been submitted.
Due to this crisis, nearly 400 job contracts have so far been cut off, while 1,000 and 816 workers have linked work contracts for the first time to businesses after March 1st to take advantage of this package.
ATK Director Ilir Murtezaj in an interview for Kosova Prees says that within a week companies have sought support from 170 euros for 33 thousand and 366 employed. Murtezaj added that these requirements could be resolved even faster than 15 days from the application deadline.
From the first day, from last Saturday, one week when this platform was set up, we have 8 thousand and 256 requests, in which we have 6 thousand and 313 requests related to pay compensation for employees and there are 10,000 and 943 requests for rent compensation. Under the demand for compensation of workers is 33 thousand and 366 working category A, 389 category B employees, and 1 thousand and 816 employees of the C category. Category A, it means that workers are employed in businesses that have business contracts and because of business pandemic has failed to compensate for their wages, and based on the emergency package, the amount of 170 euros is compensated. Category B, make up employees who because of financial difficulties have cut contracts with the job, and that number is 389. As well as category C, it's for employees who have contracted work after the period of March 1st”, Murtezaj says.
The ATK director is saying that in the Government's measures for supporting businesses, not even individual or self-employed ones are involved.
Murtezaj emphasises that this issue has also been discussed with the Minister of Finance and Transfers to find a solution for those, who is a significant number over 15 thousand.
It is important to state the issue that in the emergency package signed on April 3rd, in which some measures are envisioned has not been included even in the self-employed category, which is a considerable number of self-employees. During the next week, we have discussed with the Ministry of Finance, and with his cabinet, in order to find the solution is for this category, because this category is not included either in the framework as employed people to benefit or as business. The Government's goal is to support all those affected by Coronavirus, it is necessary to foresee measures also to help this category, which is a significant number over 15 thousand businesses, which are self-employed”, he claims.
Murezaj has also stated that, as a result of the pandemic, Cocid-19, incomes in the ATK have fallen largely.
