The town of Wuhan has been in isolation for about two months after authorities tried to prevent the spread of the virus, and in recent weeks the number of new infected people there decreased.

However, Chinese health officials reported 34 cases Thursday from the ranks of people coming from other areas. There is already constant concern for such imported cases that threaten the country's progress.

China has been the hardest hit by the coronary since it emerged in late December, with about 81 thousand cases total and 32,000 deaths. Most people who got sick have already recovered.

South Korea reported 152 new cases Thursday, a step back from its current progress when it reported less than 100 new cases a day for four days.

The virus has already affected 166 countries, with more than 208 thousand confirmed cases and 8600 deaths, according to the World Health Organization.

Germany's health officials reported on Thursday an increase of 28,000 cases in a single day, bringing the total number to the country to 11 thousand, one of the highest in the world.

Lothar Weiler, head of the German government's Robert Koch Institute, said on Wednesday that an estimated 10 million Germans could be infected in total, but that the number could be significantly reduced if people reduce social interactions.

Other countries have followed the pattern of response of Italy, China and Spain, trying to prevent people from engaging in ordinary activity and spreading the virus to their communities, or other parts of their country.

Panama announced on Wednesday a new nationwide curfew between 9am and 5am, allowing only police, fire fighters, health system employees and water-canalisation workers to make this schedule. The country has reported 109 cases so far.

New Zealand announced on Thursday that it is banning entry for foreigners, shortly after the government advised citizens not to travel abroad due to the risk of contracting corruption.

The government said it has identified eight new cases, including persons who had travelled abroad. The total number of cases was 28.

Also, neighboring Australia said it would ban entry for persons who are not permanent citizens or residences, starting Fridays. Prime Minister Scott Morrison said that a vast “portion of Australia's 500 confirmed cases have been imported from other countries.

Mexico, which has confirmed 118 cases, reported its first death early Thursday. Hours later, Russia said a 78-year-old woman who tested positive for the virus died, the first to die for this country as well.

Nicaragua and neighboring El Salvador announced late Wednesday that they had confirmed their first cases of Coronobrus.
