Tomorrow, flour producers stop production

Taking into account that the Ministry of Economy, Trade, Industry, Strategic Enterprises and Investments on March 30th 2020 has decided on the suspension of the Trade and Industry Ministry's decision, ref. October 19, 2017, corrected by Minister No. 0106 of March 25, 2020, the Association of Mollies in Kosovo [...]
The deployment of the measure in 2017 was made based on law 04/L-240, on antimeding measures and counterbalancing measures after a period.
Investigation by government officials around 1 year;
The deployment of the measure has proved to be very effective in protecting Kosovo's processors and farmers. The flour, which is imported to Kosovo, is mainly imported by Serbia's Serba and at lower prices than the cost of production due to subsidies made to exporters from the state of Serbia. Remind government officials that subsidised products when exported do not submit to the CEFTA agreement and that measures should be taken under legislation in the Republic of Kosovo;
Consequently, this situation puts wheat makers in Kosovo in an unfair position on the Kosovo market and jeopardises their existence. In such a case, in addition to wheat processors who risk closing, grain productivity in Kosovo and over 40 thousand wheat farmers will be fully affected;
Kosovo Mills Association
Many workers who are employed in the wheat processing industry in Kosovo, as well as a very large number of self-employees, farmers will, respectively, be unemployed. So unemployment will increase in Kosovo; Not following wheat processing in Kosovo to compete with subsidised products imported to Kosovo, in this case flour,
Local producers and processors will be closed. In this way, food safety in Kosovo is affected, and dependence will increase
The Republic of Kosovo by imports for the elementary product its population feeds on.
Therefore, in order for flour producers and wheat producers in Kosovo not to remain at the mercy of angry exporters and continue to be damaged, we ask by Mr. Albin Kurti, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo and Mrs. Roseta Hajdari, Minister MPTIS, urgently cancels the decision to suspend the decision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, ref. October 19, 2017, corrected by Minister No. 0106 of March 25, 2020.
On the contrary, we regret to inform Kosovo's citizens that from April 1, 2020, all flour producers in Kosovo will stop production until next announcement, respectively, until the annulment of the decision.
If government officials in charge of the prime minister consider it necessary, we are willing to meet and present to you more in detail about the current situation regarding the above-mentioned issue.
