Former State Commission member for State Border Marking and Maintaining, geography Florim Isufi, says demarcation of Kosovo's border with Serbia will be a huge problem for experts.
Isufi says that even if in the talks between Kosovo and Serbia both sides agree on changes or corrections the demarcation of the border line will be a problem on the ground.
Because with Serbia it is being planned to be an acceptable agreement for both sides, which does not explain whether it has anything to do with changing borders or not or correcting borders, then it will be a very big problem”, he said, for Online Economy.
If that agreement comes ready and both sides accept that agreement as ready then it's working on the expert field that it has more to offer and how to attract those lines”.
He says that he has warned about the matter three years ago, adding that he was not taken seriously by anyone.
Isufi, who days ago resigned from the State Commission to sign the line with Montenegro, expects the difficulty of reaching an agreement unless it comes ready from abroad.
“If such an agreement remains on both sides, and both sides start with a change-instance and with modification of borders really will be a huge problem”.
That's what I said three years ago, then no one's taken into account, but I knew that if you come into a situation like this, there's going to be very big problems”
For Kosovo, the problem remains a failure to establish the border with Montenegro. The former prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, had fired the State Commission for Demarketing in November 2017 and had Professor of Speed Bulqi, to create the team to assume responsibilities for establishing the State Commission for Demarketation.
On February 16, 2018 Kosovo and Montenegro have agreed to review the agreement through a joint statement signed by Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and his counterpart from Montenegro, Filip Vujanovic.
The Assembly has ratified the demarcation agreement on March 21st 2018, an agreement that was set by the European Union as a condition for visa removal.
