Researchers found that on March 24th the day British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the Britons should stay inside their homes, 38 per cent of participants had reported high levels of depression, while 36 per cent said they had felt more engested, writes Independent.
Just the day before, the numbers were much lower. 16 percent had reported increased levels of depression and 17 percent increased levels of anxiety.
Researchers from the University of Sheffield and Ulster University in Northern Ireland said that the growing sense of depression and anxiety had persevered during the rest of the week (March 23rd through 27th).
Richard Bentall, professor of clinical psychology at the University of Sheffield and head of the study, said the results showed that the public was concerned about pandemic.
The new study has been designed to understand the impact on the mental health of the coronary explosion.
Also, increased levels of anxiety and depression were found in people below the age of 35, living in the city alone or with children, small incomes, or health problems. /Periscope
