Prisoners broke the walls and pulled the internal doors during Sunday night's uprising at the Ghouirani prison in Hasakah City, writes The Guardian, translating Periscopi.
The prisoners later took control of the ground floor and entered the prison courtyard, believed to have four men gone. Unconfirmed reports say that some people have died during this event.
Local security services remain in high alert, with prisoners still under control by several sections of the prison complex.
Ivan Hasib, a local journalist, posted a video from outside the prison showing dozens of SDF (Kurdish forces) fighters stationed outside and also on the roof of the complex.
“Situata is still tense inside the prison,” SDF spokesman Mustafa Bali said on Twitter, adding that the reinforcements were in place to regain control.
Local media, meanwhile, reported Monday that four men were successfully detained. There has been no immediate confirmation of the total number of fugitives or recaptive prisoners. /Periscope
