Putin has said Russia is working to keep the Balkans stable and that Moscow is making efforts to reach an acceptable agreement between Kosovo and Serbia for the two sides.
“Russia is working hard to keep the Balkans stable and secure. We are committed to Belgrade and Pristina reaching a stable and acceptable agreement about the Kosovo problem under Security Council Resolution 1244, Putin has said at a meeting with Lazanski, RTS writes.
About the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue issue days ago, even the Russian ambassador to Belgrade, Alexander Bocan-Hharchenko, who has said he is willing to engage in dialogue with Kosovo if such a thing is asked of Serbia.
Kosovo- Serbia has been blocked since November 2018, following Ramush Haradinaj's government's decision to impose 100 taxes on products originating from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Since then, from the US and the EU there has been numerous efforts to unblock the situation, however, Haradinaj had held the tax decision until his resignation.
Western powers saw the solution to the Kosovo-Serbia problem as vital, as in their view the status quo situation can at any time exploit Russia, which is not interested in a stable Balkans.
