“After 20 years of the first summit in Zagreb, we have again, at our initiative, firmly decided on the agenda of the EU's highest institutions, the issue of Southeast Europe, Croatia's enlargement and support for neighbouring countries on their way to the EU”, Plenkov said.
Arriving at a work dinner in Brussels, the Croatian prime minister stressed that he was optimistic that a positive decision would soon be made to open accession negotiations for Albania and Northern Macedonia.
He says he expects a decision on this before the Zagreb summit, KosovoFress broadcasts.
This would make the atmosphere in Zagreb more positive,” said Plenkovic.
Croatia's prime minister stated that a “package of investments and better integration” European -- destined for economic growth of Western Balkan countries -- is expected ahead of the Zagreb summit.
Plenkovic said he hoped EU and Western Balkan summits would be held “at least every two years”, which, he said, would be a signal of the EU's continued and dedicated engagement with the Western Balkans and their path towards the EU.
