The average temperature recorded in Moscow in January was about zero degrees Celsius”, said meteorologist Lyudmila Pastrita, news agency, AFP.
She has said the average January temperature was 9.3 degrees higher in comparison to Moscow's average temperature.
However, it has declined to declare whether the last record is linked to climate change.
Weather temperatures have been recorded in Moscow since 1879, while throughout Russia from 1891.
Weather officials have also said that during January, snow in Moscow has grown to six inches [7 cm] in comparison with an average of 22 inches [32 cm].
Known for its extremely cold winters, Moscow has faced the hottest December of the century.
The year 2019 was also the hottest year ever recorded in Russia.
