Jamaica has made no decision about recognising Kosovo as an independent state.
Thus has the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade officially announced Jamaica in an answer on Saturday night.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade is aware of public reporting about Kosovo's recognition as an independent state”, says the communique by the Jamaican Public Relations and Media Affairs Unit.
The “issues like these are under constant scrutiny by the Jamaican Government. For the time being, however, Jamaica has made no decision about the” issue, the communique points out.
And it's a pity that there's been a misunderstanding of Jamaica's” attitude, has revealed Jamaican MPJE.
Communication from Jamaica comes shortly after Kosovo's ambassador to the United States, Vlora Citaku, has broken its silence, several days after the scandal with the country's recognition by Jamaica.
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci had reported first, through an announcement in his account to the social Twitter network, that he was informed by Citaku that Kosovo has secured recognition by the island state.
But, a few hours later, Jamaica has denied having decided to recognise, embarrassing Kosovo.
