The lawmakers and government cabinet of 2008 went into history with Kosovo's declaration of independence. It was the biggest decision to be made at the time and throughout the history of the Kosovo Assembly, but that legislature failed to complete the mandate. For 12 years, Kosovo was not given a stable executive to cope with four years of living. Four choices were held in the country for all these years.

In the 2007 elections, three months before Kosovo's declaration of independence, The PDK had come first, receiving the largest number of MPs. With 34 seats secured in the Kosovo Assembly, it was also the PDK's first election victory and the first loss of LDK. However, the latter continued to remain in power. The PDK had linked the coalition to the LDK, which had 28 deputies. Hashim Thaci was elected Kosovo prime minister. The newly formed opposition AAK with 13 deputies, AKR with 9 and LDD with 9. This coalition survived until 2010.

Coalition 2010

In this election the race got another subject. The Vetevendosje movement by that time had only been an organisation known for political shares and protests. As “initially” on the political scene failed to get more than 13 seats in the Kosovo Assembly.

The PDK led by Hashim Thaci once again took the trust of citizens, providing 32 seats until the LDK received three lower.

The PDK at the time had linked the coalition with the New Kosovo Alliance, which was led by Behgjet Pacolli.

Even this coalition failed to complete the four-year governing mandate. This government went until 2014, when Thaci-led Government sent the country to early elections.

Coalition 2014

Hashim Thaci's party in these elections also received the greatest trust of citizens. In 2014, The PDK had grown, taking 36 seats in the Kosovo Assembly, followed by the LDK with 33 seats -- Vetevendosje with 16, AAK with 8 and the 6 initiative.

The LDK, Vetevendosje, AAK and Initiative, known as V on the political scene LAN, it was a long time ago. PDK. They had declared that they would not rule with the PDK. These four parties had formed coalitions, where the majority were and tried to create Government, with Ramush Haradinaj candidate for prime minister.

However, the Constitutional Court of Kosovo had seen unconstitutional the act of non-profitable election parties and had made it impossible for them to take the lead of the government. According to the Constitution, the mandate to establish the government belongs to the winning election party, which in this case was the PDK.

So the country was placed in front of a deadlock that lasted six months until the LDK left the fours aimed at a joint coalition.

In December of that year, Isa Mustafa had accepted Hashim Thaci's offer, then the PDK chairman. The deal provided for Isa Mustaf as prime minister and Hashim Thaci to the republic after the end of Atifete Jahjaga's mandate.

The LDK-PDK government was voted in December 2014, where Isa Mustafa was voted in for prime minister, and Hashim Thaci initially as his deputy and foreign minister until his time for the president's post came. Mustafa was not being supported by some party deputies leading the party.

One of the revolted deputies who had not entrusted the trust to Mustafa was Vjosa Osmani, who would become a candidate for prime minister by the Democratic League of Kosovo five years later.

In May 2017, the motion initiated by the Initiative for Kosovo was voted, thus taking confidence from the government led by Isa Mustafa. The June heat found the country again in early elections.

Coalition 2017

Large blocks of pre-election coalitions had already been created on the political scene. Kadri Wessel, who for the first time was leading the PDK after the election of Hashim Thaci president, had given up the prime minister's post. The PDK had offered the post to Ramush Haradinaj. P The DK, AAK and Initiative had established the PAN coalition, just minutes before the deadline for application of coalitions expired.

This grand coalition, had led another coalition that was made several hours earlier between LDK- AKR and Alternatives.

Meanwhile, the Vetevendosje Movement had decided to enter the single race.

PAN came out victorious, but it's hard to create the government. He needed some votes. At the end was Behgjet Pacolli, who along with his deputies came out of the coalition with the LDK and supported Ramush Haradinaj for prime minister.
This time there was no need for a no-confidence motion. The executive leader resigned. Ramush Haradinaj resigned from the post of prime minister on July 19th, 2019, arguing he had received an invitation to interview the special prosecutor of the Special Chambers.

The LV coalition V-LDK

The LDK and the Vetevendosje Movement had been discussing for months the possibility of a pre-election coalition, but were initially not hired for the candidate post for prime minister. Vetevendosje loved Albin Kurtin candidate, while LDK, Vjosa Osmani. Both competed alone in last October 6th elections. LVV leader Albin Kurti came out first with votes in this election.

The PDK received 21.2% of the vote, until the AAK entered the pre-election coalition with former V's dissatisfied. V, PSD, received 11.57%.

While Pacolli, who had been the principal determinator for forming the Government in 2017, along with the <x0-ozor” Initiative passed the 5 per cent threshold.

After more than three months of negotiations, LVV and LDK reached the coalition for co-governance. On February 2nd, the day before the session was called for the government vote, these parties had formalised their agreement.

In the current executive, the VV leads with six ministries, as long as there is the Democratic League of Kosovo, the two ministries have the Serbian List and another community.
