Aside from the PDK refusing to admit that it has suffered a decline, it is not even acknowledging the Vetevendosje Movement's victory in the 6 October elections. To PDK 2-3 MPs do not determine the decline or lust of any party.
Democratic Party of Kosovo chief member Xhavit Haliti has told of “Zerin” some of the reasons that have led him. The PDK in opposition after so many years in power.
Haliti does not consider the PDK's outcome in the last election, nor does Vetevendosje's outcome see it as victory.
There are many reasons why the PDK has influenced the opposition. First big campaign against The PDK, which has been completely unconfirmed, has influenced distrust reports in relation to Vetevendosje. The second, this party has affected the nerve of homelandism to unite as a nation and has especially had support on the basis of that policy. These reasons have influenced the electorate to change or vote Vetevendosje in a number that I had not said won, but it has been released before”. He points out that the pre-PDK parties have received only two to three more deputies -- wheeling that is perfectly normal to happen in democracy. According to him, The PDK will act as opposition to control any action by the new government.
Haliti further states he is expected to see the approach, which the new government will have towards the problems Kosovo has, and especially the question of dialogue, which he says can be satisfactorily concluded if the country's overall interest is focused.
The co-operation the government will have with the main protagonists on the issue of talks depends on. The EU and the US are interested in the process of talks with Serbia being completed and the outcome could not always satisfy the parties. But I believe that if the talks start with not narrow interests, but for the interests of all, if we take responsibility as Kosovo institutions I believe the outcome may be better than expected”, he has said.
