From today the coronavirus Wuhan gets a new official name

China's National Health Commission gave Coronavirius Wuhan a temporary name at a press conference Saturday.

For weeks, the rapidly spreading virus has been known only by the name of the original city, something that locals in Wuhan have seen disappointing and stigmatizing.

Chinese officials said the virus will be called Pneumonia Novel Coronavirus, or NCP.

There is no news when a final official title for the virus will be determined.
