Kosovo Presidential Chief of Staff and former Minister for European Integration Bekim Colak has reacted to the possibility of appointing the EU special envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, which according to reports will be from Slovakia states that have not recognised Kosovo's independence.
Colak has said that the successful role of the EU in the normalisation dialogue depends on the credibility the EU has in Kosovo.
He has estimated that failure to liberalise Kosovo's visas, despite meeting conditions along with the appointment of special envoy from an undignified state, are formula for failure.
The successful EU role of normalisation dialogue depends on the credibility it has in Kosovo. The non-liberalisation of visas despite meeting the unfair and asymmetrical conditions, along with the appointment of an envoy coming from a non-recognitional state, are the main components of the recipe for failure”, Colak wrote.
The European Union has been warned of Miroslav Lajcak's appointment as a special EU envoy for Kosovo dialogue Serbia. Following the appointment of Josep Borrell EU foreign policy and security chief, Lajcak's assignment to deal with dialogue with Serbia already makes the two main figures in this institution for the dialogue process to be from countries that do not recognise Kosovo.
