Bariqiri: Ibrahim Rugova, the man who named this country

In honour of Kosovo's 12th anniversary of independence, the head of the Democratic League of Kosovo paid tributes and placed flower wreaths at the tomb of former President Ibrahim Rugova.

LDK chairmanship member Ismet Beqiri said President Rugova has made a valuable contribution to the independence of the state of Kosovo and that without the former party leader, Kosovo would not be what it is today.

With the 12th anniversary of our republic's declaration of independence, we are here to honor the man with whom all the things we enjoy today, that multi-year resistance led by President Rugova and then the realisation of all that the people of Kosovo have targeted, namely independence. We are here at the grave of the man who named this country, has made identity without President Rugova, without President Rugova would not be Kosovo what is today”, Beqiri said.

Beqiri said Rugova's work will always be commemorated by all Kosovo citizens.
