Former USKKUK director criticises current management with the COVID-19 pandemic

The parliamentary investigative commission on management of the COVID-19 pandemic on the part of the Government of Kosovo has continued today interviewing former USKKKKKK Director Basri Sejdiu, whose reporting was terminated due to lack of quorum. Basri Sejdiu, in front of MPs, said that at the time of the SKKUK leader, preparations have begun [...]

Basri Sejdiu, ahead of MPs, said that in the time of the SKKKUK leader, preparations for the COVID-19 pandemic have begun since February, so that the first cases can be found as prepared. He has already had criticism for the USKKUK board and current management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have launched emergency purchases for specific material, and the month February has found us with emergency purchases, meaning specific material, specific clothing, specific protection, and the first patients to have been notified by COVIDD-19 in mid-March have found us prepared with stocks collected from existing contracts. While emergency purchases made only for specific material and always pending that the MSH-separated budget start implementing the tender procedures and we have the supply in succession”, he said.

Sejdiu has been critical of managing the COVID-19 pandemic, where he said clinics have been divided in his day so as not to mix patients with COVID and those without COVID.

Sejdiu: Unedium management has begun to mix

We've had the sport management prepared for intensive treatment, and the goal was for clinics to be separated for COVIID management and intensive central treatment that is seen in 27 beds to treat post-traumatic patients. We have calculated that even the pandemic has serious operations and accidents, and we have wanted those 27 beds to be available to patients, not COVID. But then, now, if we compare it, I can see it's not going like this, and now the intensive treatment has been revoted to 12 beds, the coronary unit is, so some vital clinics are affected. Administration management has begun to mix, that is, patients in Gynecology, in all, intermediate medicine and infection has entered clinics. I don't support it, and now that I see it, I don't think it's a friend of mine, but it's a managerial matter, and that's what we're afraid of. It was the goal that clinics will be separate, those that deal with COVID are not mixed with clinics where they are treated not COVID”, he said.

Regarding this statement by former USKKUK director, LDK deputies have reacted to this commission's members, who said this issue is not a commission subject.

LDK deputy Ekem Hyseni has asked Sejdiu that the central intensive treatment has had the capacity for 27 beds with respiratory function.

In his response, former USKKKUK Director Basri Sejdiu said they were at the time he led with KSFKUK 27 beds in central intensive treatment.

The “had 27 beds, had patients as well as 22 and 23 extended and worked with ventilators who were donations. The creation of intensive treatment with COVID has been developed in sports medicine and there have been 26 more and 32 beds later, and there have been up to 26 patients lying in respiratory sports medicine. What happens to the new intensive treatment, I don't know the capacity with COVIID to use more oxygen or less, but of 27 beds have been turned into 12 beds of respiratory respiratory, and 12 other non-COVIDs have been held in the coronary unit”, he said.

But, with that, LDK deputy Ekrem Hyseni, who said intensive central treatment did not have the capacity for 27 beds.

This is the result that the mission of this commission, which I think is not its mandate, is involved. The intensive central treatment has not had the capacity for 27 beds of COVID to supply oxygen to the respiratory. According to experts working there, there have been about 12, 13 and not 27, and changes have had to be made to the oxygen supply system for increased capacity”, he said.

PDK MP Ariana Musliu-Shoshi has asked Sejdiu about reports he had with the USKKUK Board, about what former USSKKUK Director Basri Sejdiu said his dismissal from the board has not harmed him. Until, it has criticised management that this board is actually doing in terms of oxygen supply.

“Bord came late in May, but the report was I thought that I should deal with everyone in a friendly manner for the sake of functioning institutions and institutionally I always thought about the end of the patient. With the board I think it wasn't management of the pandemic, it's mostly done with internal auditing, with the report. All the staff are on the job, whether they're drugs, which means they've been dealing with things that've been preventing the job and maybe even come out of the subject, but when you see what's going on now, it means a board and a management where we've constantly had reports from the media that's smuggling oxygen, and that board does not know how it belongs to what it used to do. I don't know how you can be good when he says we download it for performance, and now you're finding good performance getting illegal gas when it's constantly reported in the media that it's being taken by non-licensed companies and that patients get it”, he said.

The commission's meeting has also reported Furtuna Thaqi, former director of the Pharmacy Division at the Ministry of Health, but on her request the reporting has been made without media presence.
