Sheriff shows if they intend to make Limaj president: You'll have the initiative back in the country, I assure you.

The initiative's Bilall Sheriff expects his party chief, Fatmir Limaj, and the leaders of other political parties to meet over the next week to discuss the issue of electing the president. According to him, party positions on the subject should be expressed only there. The sheriff has also spoken of the polls, while convinced that the initiative exceeds the threshold whenever elections are held.

The Social Democrat initiative does not prefer to publicise its stance on the issue of electing the country's president. The party's secretary-general, Bilall the Sheriff, has told Express that next week they expect to meet party leaders in the coalition to review the issue.

The Sheriff has said that for weeks, ruling coalition partners have not talked to each other about electing the president.

The latest “Failed to handle this issue has been public. There's no new date from meetings that were held two weeks ago or three, I don't know exactly. There's no new date. And what's expected is next week, with a meeting held. Hopes at least that Mr. Limaj, Mr. Mustafa, Mr. Haradinaj, meet and then start talks on this issue together with PDK representative, Mr. Enver Hoxhaj. There is no specific date, but we hope this week will be the week they start meeting. But there is no such concrete development”, the Sheriff said. According to him, it is better for the party to discuss the president to express their positions on the table before talking about the matter in public. The Sheriff said that whenever this second is happening before the first one, the harmonisation of positions on the table is difficult.

“Z. Limaj will represent the Initiative's position at the table. I don't think at least my point of view is this I don't think we should move the table into public. I think to keep each other together, they first have to spread their views on the table and then go public. As you can see, whenever things get ahead in public, then it's hard to harmonize at the table. The initiative thinks that before it gets public, then it has to sit down on the table, because public making creates difficulties for meeting at table”, the Sheriff said.

Asked whether at the warned table they would propose the party chief for president, the Sheriff has refused to respond, but has said all participants at that table should be first determined if they want to resolve the president's issue, or if they want to go to the polls.

I don't want to get into these. I think it's like for Mr. Limaj, like for Mr. Haradinaj, like for Mr. Mustafa, must apply the same principles, the same principles. So they must first decide whether to choose the president or not. If they don't want to elect the president, then the way for early elections should be opened. If they want to elect the president, they should see the compromise formulas. There is no other solution”, the Sheriff said.

He has also commented on the polls being conducted on the upcoming elections, some of which list the Initiative below the minimum threshold for joining the Assembly. Sherfi has expressed confidence that the Initiative will be back in the Kosovo Assembly whenever elections are held.

I can assure you, that the Initiative will be back in the Kosovo Assembly regardless of whether elections will be held now, will they be held in the spring, held next year or after a year... You will again have the initiative part of the Republic of Kosovo Parliament. That's all I can tell you, ”, he said.
