The organisation “Student Democracy” has criticised the Government of Kosovo, which they think has not supported students at this time.
In a response they have criticised Government for buying cars worth 130 thousand euros for a car, saying students on the other hand are not even able to pay semesters.
Their full response:
As a student organisation, we are concerned about the current situation of Kosovo students under the circumstances of pandemic. At this difficult time of pandemic, students have no money for semester, and on the other hand, the government instead of thinking of an option to get out of the crisis bought cars worth 130 thousand euros per piece!
The Student Democracy organisation calls the purchase of luxury cars from this government scandalous at this very serious economic time caused by the Devov-19 virus pandemic.
We as an organisation are very concerned about the excessive luxury of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo at this very serious economic time, where students have no money to pay a semester and the government bought luxury cars of brand BMW. Students have not yet been released from the payment of semesters and other fees related to service to the students, so we ask the prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo to share a fund to support students at this time of pandemic to be released from all fees, as the student is the most affected category in this pandemic situation. Students in Kosovo have no kind of financial income, and the only source of financing is from their parents.
The government of the Republic of Kosovo should be considerate of students for their serious economic situation at this very serious time of pandemic and make a decision to release all payments.
