Police in Buenos Aires went to Leopoldo Luque's private house and clinic and gathered files as prosecutors launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Maradona's death.
The 60-year-old died of a heart attack reported to his home this week, where he was recovering after a successful operation to remove a blood clot in his brain at the beginning of November.
Dr Luque told reporters in Sunday that he had the support of his professional body and the Argentina Association of Neuro Kosovo, Kosovo passes.
He also detailed how Maradona, who struggled with the problems of alcohol addiction and drugs, made the decision to continue his rehabilitation from home.
We were all gathered to see the best for Diego: the doctors, me, his family. Nothing could be done without his will,” Dr Luque said.
“We tried to create a control scheme for issuing pills he was taking and controlling alcohol consumption.
There were no medical criteria to keep Maradona in the hospital. We could have sent him to a rehabilitation center, but we needed his decision. ”
There are no decisions here, there are medical criteria. When you operate a patient, discharge criteria depend on the patient. There was no medical error. ”
He had a heart condition that could happen in a patient like him. It was all possible to reduce that chance, but you can't block the opportunity. I had the full approval of the Argentina Association of Neurosurgia that Diego needed surgery. Six doctors appreciated it. Death had nothing to do with operation”.
Dr Luque further added: “It was launched after the operation. The ideal thing would have been for him to undergo rehabilitation, but he did not want to. We managed to get a nurse to accompany him, but he got out of the hospital. ”
“We tried to keep it in the clinic, but it's not a rehabilitation centre. I lasted in hospital as long as I could. I'm available to the Justice Department. With Diego, I did the best I could. I'm proud of what I did. I have nothing to hide. ”
Maradona's lawyer, Matias Morla, said on Thursday that he would seek a thorough investigation into his client's death, claiming in a post in Titter that a wait for more than half an hour for an ambulance was equal to <x0 criminal user”.
There has been a great, nationwide hail of sympathy for the beloved Maradona after the death of the man who led Argentina to World Cup glory in 1986.
On Sunday, Barcelona's super star Lionel Messi paid tribute to his fellow countryman after he scored a 4-0 victory in La Liga over Ossaunas.
