YIHR: AKI refuses to show number of wiretapped persons

This institution, taking into account all circumstances, legal grounds as well as the practice of the European Court for Human Rights, September 27, 2019, addresses the AKI director by seeking information about the actions that AKI has taken in connection with the Y request IHR KS. The response from AKI has been returned by October 11, 2019, through which the ombudsman is reportedly responsible for the actions this institution has undertaken in terms of demand.
Legal conclusions from the Ombudsman's recommendation, among other things, clarify that access to public documents is the right guaranteed with the Constitutions of the Republic of Kosovo”.
“Transparency and accountability in public institutions, including AKI, should be the main principles on which all Kosovo citizens are served. The right to access information and public documents is guaranteed right and should be respected by all public institutions. %Y The IHR KS will continue to protect, seek and promote human rights by seeking accountability and transparency for cases and persons indicted by AKI through legal mechanisms, in order for Kosovo citizens to be informed and have access to important public information for their security”, the organisation has announced.
