Vuciq alarms Serbs: Kosovo is getting ready to take our churches

Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq said he does not rule out the possibility that even Kosovo authorities adopt a law on religious freedoms, similar to what Montenegro has adopted. I see this through preparation, through their textbooks. The campaign has been running for years. The talk about the legacy of Kosovo, which should be different from the Serbian”, Vuciq told reporters in Belgrade.
He added that Serbs would fight as always when to be told that “cannot preserve their name and surname, religion and church, cultural monuments and their cultural heritage”.
Montenegro's Assembly has adopted the Law on Freedom of Religion on December 27th of last year.
Protests have also been held since then by believers of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which names the law as “attempts to capture Church property in Montenegro”.
The Montenegrin government denies that.
The Serbian Orthodox Church objects to the formulation in the law, which says that “all religious objects -- which were owned by the state of Montenegro before the loss of independence in 1918 -- which later did not pass to any religious community legally -- will be recognised as state property and registered as cultural treasure”.
Vuciq said he has not been heard with Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic, but added he is willing to talk to him about everything.
Whenever Djukanovic wants to speak, I'm ready for talks. He always has an open invitation to visit Serbia”, Vuciq said.
