The House of Representatives in the United States has adopted a non-binding resolution to restrict US President Donald Trump's opportunity to launch military intervention against Iran.
The resolution has been adopted in the Democrat-led Chamber, where many lawmakers doubt the White House's jurisdiction for the assassination of the Iranian elite forces' commander, Qasem Solejmani.
Three republics have voted in favour of this move, until eight Democrats have rejected it.
The adopted resolution urges President Trump “to ban the exploitation of the US Armed Forces for involvement in enmity against Iran”.
It also asks the president to sign up with Congress in each step before engaging” the army in enmity with Iran.
The document also mentions that the army can engage against Iran if Congress declares war.
Hours before the vote, House of Representatives Leader Nancy Pelosi has said she does not believe the Trump administration has made the US safer, killing Soleimani.
Even President Trump has reacted before the vote, saying he hopes that the “Republicans of the House of Representatives will vote against Nancy Peloss' mad resolution for the powers of war”.
On January 3rd, Iranian General Qasem Solejmani was killed by an American raid on Baghdad, raising concerns about the conflict between the United States and Iran.
Solejmani, 62, who has helped orchestrate Iran's military operations abroad, has been declared a terrorist by the United States.
In response to the Iranian commander's murder, Iran has launched missile attacks on two US bases in Iraq.
Trump has said no American soldier has died as a result of this attack and it seems Tehran “is pulling out”, following the attack.
He has also not mentioned any military action against this state. / REL
