The ban on coal use has prompted this fuel to be sold illegally. And for that, Kosovo Police have been mobilised along with the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning Inspector (MMPH).
The latter have said that last year some selling points have been frequented, where these fuels have been confiscated after verification.
Bedri Halimi, chief inspector in MMPH, has said the inspections were done with the Kosovo Police.
“The Inspectorate of the Ministry of Environment and Space Planning, along with the KPM and the Kosovo Police, has made occasional inspections to the source of the problem, especially at the exploratory points, and has been drawn to all of whom are warned that such a thing is prohibited and in cases when someone has been encountered doing illegal reporting has been sent to court”, he said.
According to him, as well as during 2019, the MMPH Inspectorate, along with other subjects at the selling points, has been frequented in a different Kosovo country, in particular in the part of Pristina and around where they have encountered coal trucks to sell it.
Halimi said that during the past year they were able to confiscated about 20 tons of coal.
Even Halimi has warned that if this phenomenon is repeated, the truck will also be confiscated and legislation will be implemented in force, with the mandated fines included from 100 to 5,000 euros, EO reports.
At least 20 tons during the next year, while this year's start, you see a decline in the intensity of the individual assigned to illegal coal sales because they understand that it will be confiscated. At the same time, they were informed that they could be confiscated by trucks for the second time if we encountered market points. And wherever we come across for sale of coal, that means it's illegal sales and there's no argument, there's nothing there, there's only coal seizures, and, well, when confiscated from the specific person and if he does the same, then there's going to be seizures of the”, he said.
Halimi has said the number of inspectors is limited, saying that there are only five environmental inspectors in Kosovo's entire territory.
With the fact that we've been confiscating itself, the biggest fine has been the seizure itself, but if it happens to be the rerun of the work, then the implementation of legislation in force will be made, even the mandate fines, involving 100 to 5,000 euros”, he said.
