Lekaj: The normalisation of the air space with the Serina is not conditioned with tax removal

Air Company Operations Agreement “Lufthansa” on the Pristina-Belgrade line, signed yesterday at a special ceremony at the American Embassy in Berlin, is considered a positive step towards normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia. Leaders of the country's institutions claim German aviokomina “Lufthansa” aims to open the Pristina-Belgrade air corridor.
Acting Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Pal Lekaj, commenting on the conditioning of Serbia's authorities for implementation of this agreement, told Kosova Preis that no compromise should be made for the removal of a 100 per cent tax.
Lekaj says that thanks to US support, this reference letter will significantly affect the creation of the corridor for the exploitation of Serbia's airspace by aerocompanies coming to the “Adem Jashari” airport, and will cut space in time for about 30 minutes but also for lowering ticket prices.
“We have only a good start, Belgrade ʹ Pristina and Pristina Belgrade Pristina, and it's not for fifth places for airspace. Despite this, this is a step forward for us to create corridors in this direction and to use Serbia's airspace for aviokopans arriving at the international airport, Adem Jashari. It is a speculation never mentioned the removal of the tax for signing this agreement. At no time was tax removal discussed. I mean, in this direction I didn't compromise”, Lekaj says.
Kosovo currently has only one air corridor with northern Macedonia, yet incumbent Minister Lekaj does not rule out the possibility that Kosovo will soon have air corridors with Albania as well.
When we say that, we can't stop, with Albania we don't have any problems with our corridors and reports. But I can say that we are insisting that we take responsibility even for the low air space that is NATO's responsibility. We're communicating, when it's going to happen, you're going to be very soon informed”, he declares.
For this US-brokered agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, LDK Deputy Chairman Agim Veliu for Kosovo Press has said that the goals for opening the air corridor with Serbia are positive, and the LDK will contribute to normalising Kosovo-Serbia relations.
“Any movement leading to normalisation of relations with neighbours, we assess as positive and certainly the Democratic League of Kosovo contributes to these issues”, Veliu said.
While representatives of the Vetevendosje Movement, even though they have been contacted by Kosovo Preress, have declined to comment on this agreement with Serbia on the exploitation of the Kosovo-Serbia airline.
Resigned Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has called the giant step signing the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia to resume commercial flights.
Haradinaj has written on Twitter that this is an important step towards advancing good neighbourly relations.
“Nism to open Kosovo's third civilian air route for commercial flights to Serbia, after Albania and Macedonia, is a huge step for advancing good neighbourly relations and consolidating Kosovo's sovereignty”, Haradinaj writes.
This step has been welcomed by the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, committed to normalisation of airspace, since it marks recognition of civil aviation authorities between the two states and co-operation between them after 20 years. Through this line, the free movement of citizens and goods is also enabled through air transport.
The company lufthansa '% must seek approvals and licenses for all flights, according to requirements, regulations and laws in power of the Republic of Kosovo, under the ECAA agreement.
