As of 2 February this year, all who aim to apply Schengen for visa will be obliged to pay the 33.3% more tax. This means visa applicants will have to pay 80 euros, rather than 60 as it currently is.
In addition to the price, one of the application rules will be changed. Those who would like to visit any of the Schengen Zone countries can apply for visas 6 months earlier than when they plan to travel, as the application could actually take place only three months earlier.
This amendment to the Visa Order has been approved by the European Union Council in June 2019 and will apply to all EU member states and other countries that are part of the Schengen Agreement.
Such a regulation by some EU states has confirmed that they will start implementing it in the same period.
For Schengen VisaInfo. com this has been confirmed by Lithuania, Germany, Denmark, Finland and Belgium, the Express writes.
In addition, under this new regulation, to be implemented by February of this year, member states will be obliged to open visa processing centres in countries where there is no representation so that applicants are not forced to travel to other states just to apply.
The new code also says visa tax will be discussed every three years, whether the price will remain the same or will be changed.
