EU evacuates its citizens from Wuhan

The European Union at France's request has activated a Joint Civil Protection Mechanism in order to provide consular support to EU citizens in Wuhan, China, at the centre of a new infection, amid strengthening a coronary infection. The European Commission reports that through the start of the Mechanism, two aircraft will be sent to transfer EU citizens from Wwan to Europe.

The European Commission has called on all EU citizens, regardless of nationality, currently in the Wuhan region, who want to be evacuated to apply.

The initial figures refer to 250 French citizens, who will be transferred from the first plane and 100 other citizens from other member states waiting for the next plane, the Kosovas broadcasts.

Our “Crisis Co-ordination Centre has been constantly working and is in constant contact with member states, EU delegations to the region and the Chinese Embassy in Brussels. If necessary, additional EU support will be mobilised, “said crisis commissioner Janez Lenzic.

In the European Commission, stressing that they are willing to help member states in a strong and co-ordinated “response” to the evolutionary situation of the coronary.

She added that the French demand was the first requirement to launch a joint EU civil defence mechanism in the event of a coronary epidemic, without excluding the submission of new demands in the days ahead.
