The statement comes on the day when the 21st anniversary of the Recak massacre is being marked, in which Serb forces have killed 45 Kosovo Albanians.
<x0him> Displacement and revision (of the massacre) are contrary to EU values and contrary to the Western Balkans' EU integration project”, an EU spokesman said through a written statement.
In December last year, Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has declared that crime in Recak “has been invented”.
The European Union said all governments of the countries of the region should work to assess the past honestly and truthfully, for the sake of respecting the victims.
It is up to the courts to determine whether specific statements constitute criminal acts. The punishment should be proportional and all the random elements should be taken into account”, the EU spokesman said, adding that the region needs reconciliation, stability and normalisation of relations.
On Tuesday, ambassadors of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States are also known as Quinthes ' countries remembered Recak's massacre through a joint statement.
They said this massacre eventually led NATO allies to intervene and end a humanitarian catastrophe in Kosovo.
