China has blocked circulation in 10 cities in the central province, which consists of a population of 60 million people, the BBC writes.
On Thursday, a person affected by the Coronavius died in the nearby province of Hebei, marking the first case outside Hubei.
Another death was later confirmed in the Heilgiang province in the country's northeast.
The northeastern zone borders Russia and is more than 2,000km from Wuhan.
The isolation comes on the eve of New Year's Eve, one of the most important dates on the Chinese calendar, when millions of people travel to their homes, Periscope follows.
