The speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has announced the launch of a formal investigation into Donald Trump's dismissal, making him the fourth president in US history to face such an extraordinary investigation.
All three other cases with the other presidents resulted in either the prosecution or the president's resignation, writes The Guardian, follow Periscope.

After months of pressure from members of her party (and not only), Pelosi finally made his decision Tuesday. 30 Democrats of the House of Representatives joined the call for opening the formal investigation for dismissal.
This pressure increased significantly after Congress learned from reporting a signal that had alarmed the intelligence community of a conversation Trump had had with the president of Ukraine. The conversation reportedly included Vice President Joe Biden, the potential Trump option for 2020. The Democrats claim Trump stopped military aid as pressure to obtain information about Beden had not gone well. Trump denied any wrongdoing, even though he admitted he made that call.
How does the procedure work?
Pelosi said six congress committees are recently investigating possible offenses in the indictment. Based on their findings, the judicial committee can draft and approve an indictment articles on Trump, which could then go to the House of Representatives for the vote. If these articles pass, the Senate will hold a process on this issue, with two-thirds of the majority needed to condemn and expel the president.
Three other presidents, Bill Clinton, Andrew, were previously charged. Johnson [1868] and Richard Nixoni [although not technically because he had resigned]. /Periscope
